8th Graders Filmed ‘Gang Rape’ of Classmate on a School Trip – Crime Online

On Thursday, a Nevada judge ordered a 15-year-old boy to stand trial as an adult for a sexual assault that occurred last year during a school trip.

The teen is the second Alexander Dawson School student to be tried as an adult for sharing footage of the reported rape, which occurred in Costa Rica. Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson explained that the teens cannot be prosecuted locally for the assault because they lack jurisdiction, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Stacy Kollins said the teen and at least three other boys “gang raped” the male victim. Kollins said the teen showed video of the assault to another child while in the victim’s presence to further torment him.

Prosecutors said the teen and another 15-year-old, who is also charged as an adult, threatened to harm the victim if he told about the rape.

The teen is charged with possessing child sexual abuse material and child abuse. According to KLAS, Kollins said he stored images of the assault in a Snapchat account, which he showed to other students.

The other 15-year-old boy was charged with possession of a visual presentation depicting sexual conduct of a child. He was charged as an adult in January.

The other two boys who allegedly carried out last year’s rape are not facing any criminal charges.
