PORTLAND, Ore. (TCN) — A woman suing grocery chain Trader Joe’s for $10,000 has alleged she found a human fingertip in a bottle of orange juice she bought from the retailer last summer.
On June 14, 2025, Julee O’Neil purchased a 52-ounce bottle of orange juice. When she finished it a few days later, she encountered what she thought could be a finger, according to KPTV.
Based on court documents obtained by WPIX, she first thought there was a piece of pulp in her mouth but soon found it was a glove tip that might have had a human fingertip inside. The woman then reportedly went to urgent care after experiencing burning in her mouth.
KPTV reports she also experienced nausea and was concerned she might have accidentally swallowed the fingertip. Thirty days before filing the complaint, O’Neil wrote to Trader Joe’s and requested $10,000 as a settlement. In her lawsuit, O’Neil reports that the chain did not pay it; she filed a suit on April 20 for $10,000 in damages from the juice.
Court records obtained by KGW show that O’Neil has filed several suits over the years. In two of them, she settled with drivers she was in crashes with. In both cases, the other drivers were allegedly responsible for the accidents.
O’Neil also reportedly sued Starbucks in 2020 after claiming she slipped on a puddle at one of their stores and hurt her knee, and sued a massage provider in 2024 after claiming her neck was stepped on, according to KGW.
