Florida man allegedly took a hammer to surgeon’s Tesla after doctor canceled the surgery because the suspect drank water

THE VILLAGES, Fla. (TCN) — A 78-year-old man allegedly damaged his surgeon’s car with a hammer when he grew angry that the doctor canceled the surgery because he drank water, going against preoperative instructions.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Law & Crime, police responded to a medical building on Sept. 16 after receiving a call about a damaged Tesla. The victim, a surgeon at the practice, said his co-workers heard two loud bangs. The vehicle allegedly had two indentations on the windshield, or about $1,600 worth of damage, per the affidavit.

Video from the Tesla showed a suspect in a surgical mask walk up to the vehicle with a hammer before allegedly hitting the windshield twice before leaving in his own vehicle, according to Law & Crime. The suspect was identified as Glen Lee Ong, and the victim described him as a “difficult patient.”

During his interview with police, Ong initially denied being the suspect in the video, but later allegedly admitted that he damaged the doctor’s Tesla. Law & Crime reports he allegedly said, “That guy screwed me over twice. … I was already dressed up to do the surgery, and he called it off just because I had a sip of water. … I went through all that trouble going down there, having someone take me down there and that f—er turned me down.”

Ong also claimed that before vandalizing the car, he removed his own license plate so he could not be found. He was arrested and booked into jail on Oct. 9 and bonded out the following day. According to Law & Crime, his next scheduled court appearance is on Nov. 3.
