When Amanda Batula and West Wilson’s stories about who made the first move diverged on Summer House: The Aftermath, she blasted her new boyfriend’s version of events.
During her post-reunion sit-down with Lindsay Hubbard in Summer House Season 10’s special bonus episode, Amanda admitted that she may have “confused” her “euphoric” reaction to rediscovering herself while going out with West and his friends post-split from Kyle Cooke with romantic feelings. Amanda’s statement prompted Lindsay to contend that any possible confusion still did “not excuse” her “going for the one guy” who had broken Ciara Miller’s heart “multiple times.”
Amanda, meanwhile, attempted to clarify, “Yeah. I didn’t go for him. He pursued me.” But that’s not what West was telling people, according to Lindsay. As she revealed to Amanda, “He told Ciara that you were the one obsessed with him and that you were the one who’s like, you know, has a crush on him and that nothing physical had happened at that point. And that was March 6.”

Denying West’s claim, Amanda responded, “He said I had a crush on him? And I was obsessed with him? That’s such f–king bulls–t. … No, he was actively texting me to hang out all the time, and I would always say no.”
Why Lindsay Hubbard believed West Wilson “manipulated” Amanda Batula
Lindsay, meanwhile, asked Amanda to confirm that West was “highly pursuing” her. As screenshots of their text messages scrolled on the screen, Amanda elaborated that West started out by trying to get her to join him in “group settings,” not to have one-on-one hangouts. “He would invite other people too. Like, it wasn’t just me,” she maintained. “And then there was like that one time I guess Ciara saw me at his apartment.”
In that instance, Amanda insisted that it was still a group get-together to watch a game on TV and eat pizza. Either way, she admitted to thinking “it was weird” that they were all hanging out in West’s apartment, rather than going out to a bar together.
Though she said that initially declined West’s invitations, Amanda noted that things changed once she and Kyle announced their split on Jan. 19. “I’m, like, in a different head space where I’m like, ‘OK, like, I need to meet people. Like, I need to get out. Like, I can’t be, like, sitting in my apartment anymore. I can’t be, like saying no,'” she explained to Lindsay. So, as West’s hangout invites kept rolling in, Amanda finally began accepting them.

“And then when he brought up that, like, ‘Is there something happening?’, it’s like this, like, door opened and I’m like, ‘Wait, what the f–k is going on? Like, are these feelings more than just, like, enjoying hanging out with him, like, as a friend and, like, having fun?'”
Linsday’s takeaway? “So, he manipulated you,” she told Amanda, who replied, “Those are not my words, but… That’s what happened.”
Why Amanda Batula continued to date West Wilson amid “confused” feelings
Amanda also reiterated her claim that she and West were only having “conversations” and that there was “nothing physical going on” between them, initially. “We’d text and we’d talk about it, and I’d be like… ‘What the f–k is happening?'”
For Lindsay, that begged the question, “But why didn’t you shut it down then? Why not, at that point, say, ‘No, I’m not doing that to Ciara?'”
Amanda answered, “Because I was so selfish and so focused on, like, my happiness and, like, feeling good for the first time. … It overwhelmed me, this feeling of just, like… someone caring about me.” After some more discussion on the matter, she further shared that “getting that attention from West” might have “confused” her amid feelings that she was “unlovable” and would “be alone for the rest of [her] life.”
Lindsay, for her part, still remained unclear why Amanda would “choose to go for” West, doubling down, “All he does is manipulate women everywhere he goes to fall in love with him.”
