
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (TCN) —Â A woman charged with domestic violence-related assault has had her charges upgraded to domestic violence-related murder after her boyfriend died following an alleged attack with a nail-studded board.Â
On June 20, Marvinesha Hopkins, 33, got into an argument with her boyfriend, whose name has not been released, WLKY reports. A witness told police Hopkins’ boyfriend reportedly punched her in the face and Hopkins allegedly responded by hitting him with a wooden board with nails in it. She then allegedly hit him with a stick and a glass jar. She was arrested the same day and charged with domestic violence-related assault.
On June 25, Hopkins’ boyfriend died of his injuries and Hopkins was arrested for domestic violence-related murder the following day, according to WLKY. Her bond has been set at $500,000 and she is scheduled to make her first court appearance on July 6.
