Though Steven Jr. intended only to provide “moral support” as farmhand and honorary fifth McBee brother Jake Denton shopped for his longtime girlfriend Tegan Bruce’s diamond sparkler in Season 3, Episode 9, of The McBee Dynasty, he had a temporary change of plans at the jewelry store. Insisting that he was speaking solely “out of curiosity,” Steven asked the salesperson if they had any pieces that fit the description of Allie’s “potential” engagement ring.
“All I know is Allie is the best that I have ever met in my entire life. I want her to know I’m in this for the long haul,” Steven explained in a confessional, adding. “If I’m ready to marry her, I’m gonna do that.”
Steven checked out two rings, which you can see below. After briefly thinking it over, however, he ultimately declared, “I think I’ll wait.”

Either way, Steven Jr. knew exactly what kind of engagement ring that he was looking for, thanks to the specific instructions Allie had already given him. Upon entering the jewelry store, for example, Steven told Jake, “Allie was like, ‘You better not give me a lab-grown diamond.'”
Because Allie was previously married, he did have to manage expectations when it came to the cost of her second ring, however. “The one she had before, I think it was like a $150,000 ring,” he said. “I was like, ‘Yeah, I don’t know what you expect, but that’s not gonna be me. I’m sorry.'”

While speaking to the sales professional, Steven read from his phone that Allie wanted a “yellow-gold, emerald, no-halo, no-cushion ring with two stones on the side of the center stone.” The diamonds he was shown were roughly two carats, prompting him to respond, “I think she mentioned five or six.”

The ring shopping had arrived on the heels of the news that, after two months of living with Steven, Allie was moving in with her sister in Texas. “It’s definitely a step backwards,” he vented to brother Jesse McBee, mentioning that he could no longer imagine asking Allie’s father for her hand in marriage, at that point. “That definitely threw a wrench in my timeline.”
In a confessional, Steven elaborated, “For what I initially had dreamt of for our relationship, we’re doing a complete 180. We went from getting married within a couple months to now she’s gonna move back to Texas.”
After taking some time to think it over, however, Steven decided to move to Texas and split his time between the Lone Star State and the family farm in Gallatin, Mo. “I’m realizing that I don’t think I want to be without Allie,” he told a producer. “I’m gonna have to make some sacrifices to make this work, even if that means upending my life and moving down to Texas. For this relationship, for this girl, it’s worth it.”

Speaking to his mom, Kristi McBee, Steven Jr. added, “I don’t know where things are gonna go with Allie and I or how quickly, but whenever her lease is up with her sister is probably whenever we’ll get a place together. … We’ll probably be married by then, if I’m being honest.”
Allie, for her part, explained that she wanted to “slow things down a little bit” with Steven, however. “This whole situation is really tough for me,” she remarked in a confessional. “I love Steven, and I care about him deeply. We’ve just had a whirlwind of a few months. And I just need a second really to digest it all.”
