Harry Potter fans save Dobby’s grave by thwarting $580 million electricity project!

Freshwater West, UK – The grave of Dobby the house‑elf has become a beloved pilgrimage site for fans of the Harry Potter film franchise – so much so that countless protests by dedicated Potterheads led to the cancellation of an electricity project that would have erased the UK memorial!

In the podcast Energy Revolution, project manager Simon Ludlam said that after a BBC interview about the $580 million power link aired, he received hundreds of calls from Harry Potter fans.

Originally, the cable was supposed to run directly through the monument.

But a colleague of Ludlam eventually explained to him that the whole thing was “very, very serious.”

“I said, ‘He’s a fictitious character in a fictitious book; the whole thing is fictitious. What are you talking about?'” Ludlam recalled.

In the end, the fierce loyalty of the Harry Potter fandom won out!

The original plans were scrapped, and the cable has been rerouted to spare the memorial.

“We avoided Dobby’s grave; a lot of people were very happy about that,” Ludlam said. “The project’s now going, and Dobby’s happy.”

The so‑called Greenlink interconnector, which the BBC says links the British power grid to Ireland via a cable, has been operational since 2025.

With the Harry Potter fandom clearly as passionate as ever, fans will soon get to experience the story of the Boy Who Lived all over again with a new HBO TV adaptation coming this winter.
