During The Valley Season 3 reunion, host Andy Cohen really put Luke Broderick in the hot seat over a shocking, behind-the-scenes comment that he made about Kristen Doute to producers. More specifically, he revealed that Luke had recently refused an offer to appear with Kristen on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

“You told my producers that you would only come if Kristen was not involved, that you needed a break,” Andy noted on Part 2 of The Valley reunion, prior to giving Luke the opportunity to explain himself. Before he could do so, Kristen chimed in to say that their 1-year-old daughter Kaia’s nanny was out of the town at the time, and she had looked into flights for Luke’s mom to help them on the cross-country trip from Los Angeles to New York City.
“Do you want to say what you really said, or…?” Kristen asked Luke, before adding, “He said, ‘I want to go to dinner and I want to enjoy New York, and I can’t enjoy New York if you and Kaia are there.”

Luke, on the other hand, had his own version of events. By his account, Kristen had preemptively informed him that she was “just gonna be in the room the entire time” and that they couldn’t “do other things” during their time in NYC. “And I’m like, ‘This sounds like a miserable trip across the country, changing [Kaia’s] sleep schedule for less than 48 hours, three time zones away,'” he added.
“Sometimes we need space,” Luke continued. “And, honestly, jumping her three time zones, to not even get adjusted, and jump her back, we’ve got a week of fallout with our baby. On top of this… it wasn’t a good idea.”

As Kristen dabbed tears from her eyes, their castmates pointed out that Luke’s comment had obviously “hurt” her. At that point, he went on to unpack his reason for not apologizing to his fiancée prior to the reunion taping.
“You didn’t come to me in a serious way that it hurt your feelings, and I am sorry that it did,” Luke told Kristen directly. “You make light of it, and I’m sorry that I haven’t, like, read that it hurt you like that, like it did. And I’m sorry.”
Where Kristen Doute and Luke Broderick’s relationship stands today
Throughout Season 3, viewers saw Kristen and Luke navigating some relationship issues in tandem with the challenges of first-time parenthood. Fast-forward to today, and Luke said that “things have improved,” and they’re in a much better place. Kristen even spilled that they’re “having sex more” now, while Luke, meanwhile, admitted that he “wasn’t the best version” of himself while filming.
As Kristen added, “What I learned later, too, is that, like, there was a lot of postpartum depression and rage. And rage was something I wasn’t familiar with.”

While working through their problems on the show, Kristen and Luke took viewers inside their couples therapy session, but they’ve since more or less hit pause on that type of counseling. “What we’ve realized is I don’t think we’re quite ready,” Kristen shared at the reunion. “My therapist has told me, like, if we’re at all getting volatile in couples therapy, that we’re not ready for it yet.”
After Andy noted that he’d “never heard that” and wondered what that meant for Kristen and Luke’s future, she elaborated, “If during couples therapy, we’re not getting things resolved and we’re just fighting, there are things we have to resolve outside of it. So, it’ll be like Luke kind of doing his thing while I do mine, and then we can come back together and try again.”
