Even as Ariana Biermann went apartment hunting on Next Gen NYC Season 2, she was still feeling the financial strain from her parents, Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann, taking her money, years ago.
Ariana’s move to Brooklyn was, of course, preceded by her and Hudson McLeroy’s breakup in the Next Gen NYC Season 2 premiere, and she signed a deal to film the whole process to earn more income as a social media influencer. On the Next Gen NYC After Show for Episode 8, Ariana shed new light on the reasons behind her decision to publicly document her “bittersweet” move, post-split.
“When Hudson and I decided to move out, I literally had, I think, like $200 to my name, genuinely,” The Real Housewives of Atlanta daughter revealed. “Obviously, we know my parents took my money. I never got a dollar.”
Sharing an update on the money drama involving Kim and Kroy, Ariana noted that she’s much more financially secure today. “I just filed taxes on … all the money I never received,” she added of her “super fun” payment to the IRS. “Thank you, Jesus, for putting me in a place to be able to do that though.”
How money impacted Ariana Biermann’s relationship with Hudson McLeroy
Hudson, meanwhile, had a front-row seat, both when Ariana was grappling with the financial losses that her parents caused, as well as when she was eventually able to pull herself out of debt amid a career upswing.
“When we were together, he was so happy for me,” Ariana added on the Next Gen NYC After Show. “It did get to a point though where it was kind of like, ‘You’re bringing in more money than I’m bringing in right now. Like, I’m not used to that.’ That definitely was like, I think, a struggle at one point for him, whether he would specifically say it out loud or not.”

She continued, “It wasn’t like he was trying to tear me down or whatever. … He didn’t come to an event with me, which really hurt my feelings, like, a lot, ’cause I was getting paid money and he wasn’t. But he was always very happy for me.”
Why did Ariana Biermann’s parents take her money?
During Next Gen NYC Season 1, Ariana opened up about parents Kim and Kroy taking money from the lucrative brand deals that she’d secured as a teenager. “I can’t say exactly what they used it for, because I just found out it was gone two years ago,” Ariana said in a series premiere confessional. “I don’t even know how much money I made over that time period. Nobody was honest. There was no transparency. And I have no idea where it actually went.”
Even after Ariana moved to New York City with Hudson, she said that she continued to financially support Kim, who split from Kroy after 11 years of marriage in 2023, as needed. That eventually became a point of contention between Ariana and Hudson. “The thing that we do honestly struggle with sometimes is when my mom does call me and asks me for money now,” Ariana admitted in a Season 1 confessional.
Further addressing the situation during a June 2025 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Ariana clarified, “Everybody wants this to be my mother; this was a joint partnership in taking the money.”

Kim, for her part, opened up about what happened to Ariana’s teenage earnings during a July 2025 episode of WWHL. “Actually, the rug was pulled out from the Zolciaks,” the RHOA alum and mom of six shared, referencing her and Kroy’s past financial struggles. “And, yeah, I mean Ariana’s money was spent on bills, to be honest. … I was left, you know, holding the bag for the family.”
