In a Real Housewives first, Erika Hammond took The Real Housewives of New York City Season 16 cast on a tropical vacation to her own private island, but that didn’t stop the ‘Wives from analyzing the definition of “private,” as they took a tour of the estate Erika owns with her husband, Ankur Jain, and his family.
“I’m so excited to host the girls on the island. It’s one of my happy places,” Erika described to producers of Moskito Island during Episode 5.
The RHONY ‘Wives arrived to Moskito Island by boat during the Oct. 6 episode, and were greeted by staff waiting for them on the dock. Golf carts then whisked them away to Erika’s estate, named Oasis. Adding more lore, Erika shared that the house and its pool are designed in the shape of a yacht.

Does Erika Hammond own Moskito Island?
Erika cleared the air on who owns Moskito Island during The Real Housewives of New York City After Show. “It’s a private island. It’s Moskito Island. Richard Branson originally bought it, and then now it’s nine families who own this private island. And we each have our own estates,” she explained.
During the Oct. 6 RHONY episode, Erika described it as: “[The families] have estates on the island…we all pay for the island, so we all have a share.” She continued, “We all share the beach, we all share the tennis courts, we all like pay for like ‘HOAs’ of the island.”
Erika added that Richard Branson owning Moskito Island is a frequent misconception. “He owns Necker,” she told the ‘Wives of a nearby island. “He has a piece of this one, but it’s part of the families that own it.”
After Daisy Toye and Erin Lichy questioned who actually owns Moskito Island during the episode, Erika declared “I have a house on this island. I don’t know what you’re questioning. Here you go, you want the deed?”
Sai De Silva defended her old friend and the use of the term “private” during the After Show. “It’s still a private island. It is private,” she emphasized. “There are no restaurants. Anybody just can’t come on the island, and then move on in, like it’s a private island.”
