Trial date set for Kentucky woman who allegedly dismembered and cooked her mother

ROBERTSON COUNTY, Ky. (TCN) — A trial date has been set for a 34-year-old woman accused of killing and dismembering her mother and cooking the remains.

According to Kentucky State Police, troopers responded to a home on Oct. 9, 2024, after receiving a report of a deceased woman. WNKY reports someone doing building work on the property made the call after finding a body.

When police were not able to make contact with anyone at the home, they obtained a search warrant.

WDKY reports investigators found parts of Trudy Fields’ body inside a folded mattress in the backyard. In the home, they found a steel pot inside the oven. It allegedly contained the head, feet, hands, and forearms of the victim, and they had reportedly been heated up until they were charred.

According to court documents obtained by WDKY, Torilena Fields allegedly stabbed and shot her mother before dismembering her. When troopers took Fields into custody, she reportedly had blood on her hands, face, and clothes.

On Oct. 10, 2024, Fields was indicted on charges of murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, torture of a dog or cat, and obstructing governmental operations, according to state police.

According to WDKY, Fields was found competent to stand trial in March 2025 after undergoing a competency evaluation.

On Oct. 12, a Robertson County, Kentucky judge scheduled Fields’ jury trial for Aug. 23 to Sept. 3, 2027, along with a status hearing on Jan. 11, 2027, according to WDKY.
