When some of The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 20 cast decided to visit a capybara cafe during their trip to Tokyo, Emily Simpson didn’t expect to come away with a minor injury.
As Emily, Tamra Judge, and Jennifer Pedranti walked into Cafe Capyba, Emily eagerly stated, “Oh, you can buy vegetables! Let’s buy them snacks.” Upon seeing the two capybaras, which are the largest rodents in the world, she declared, “I had no idea how big they are in person.”
As Emily was sipping her tea on a couch, a capybara was caught on camera inching closer to her, before nibbling on her leg, causing her to shout out in surprise.
Later during a group dinner, Emily shared an update on her bite. “I’m checking to make sure it doesn’t get infected,” she said, as the ‘Wives looked at the visible marks on her leg.

In the immediate aftermath of Emily’s bite, Tamra and Jenn were concerned. “What happened?!” Tamra asked, as Jenn jumped up and questioned, “What did you do?”
Once Gina Kirschenheiter knew Emily was okay, she had a lighter take on the situation. “I’m legit frightened that this is like a Spiderman situation. Or like a werewolf, you know?” Gina joked to producers during RHOC’s Oct. 15 episode. “I’m actually frightened that I’m going to wake up and I’m going to find this giant capybara living with me. Because isn’t that how it happens with werewolves? They get bit.”

Emily and Gina talked more about the capybara cafe in The Real Housewives of Orange County After Show video above.
“It’s a rodent,” Gina told Emily. “You understand that?” While Gina seemed put off by that fact, Emily responded, “I like rodents.”
“He did have huge balls. They also fart,” Emily continued as producers showed a flashback of Emily revealing how bad a capybara fart smells during the episode.
The RHOC Season 20 cast opens up on their favorite parts of the Japan trip
While the capybara cafe was memorable, Emily also revealed another of her favorite parts of their trip to Japan was driving go karts through the streets of Tokyo.
“I like driving, and I like driving fast, so, being able to drive through the city—just on a go kart, with a onesie on—I mean that was fun,” she said during the RHOC After Show. “And, it was a good way to see the city.”
But Heather Dubrow and Tamra Judge had a different take on the go karts.
“I really liked the go karts for three minutes, and then that was the longest hour of my entire life,” Heather mentioned, and added the ride was “so scary” with the amount of traffic. Tamra added it was a “long ride” and agreed she didn’t enjoy the amount of vehicles on the roads, likening it to go karting on I-405 in Orange County and Los Angeles.
Shannon Storms Beador shared that the moment she “laughed the hardest” was in the car with Heather and Tamra after visiting the Muscle Girls Bar, where one of the activities was spending tokens on options including face slaps. The ‘Wives took turns slapping each other as they drove away.
“I don’t drink champagne, but somehow I drank champagne that day, and there were just so many antics going on. We just kept laughing,” Shannon recalled during the After Show.

Shannon also reminisced about when the group visited a temple and then received fortunes. “I loved going to the temple. I loved that Vicki [Gunvalson] was so upset with getting a negative fortune,” she added.
Gina admitted that her favorite part of the trip was the Japanese cuisine. “I was just always eating. I ate a lot of food,” she said on the After Show. “But, I like to try the foods. That’s my thing.”
