Los Angeles, California – Calling all gleeks! Everyone’s favorite musical-comedy-drama, Glee, is officially heading back to the screen after more than a decade since its series finale.

After weeks of swirling rumors, news of a Glee revival coming to Hulu and Disney+ was officially confirmed on Wednesday.
Much of the new show is shrouded in secrecy, but co-creator and showrunner Ryan Murphy revealed to Entertainment Tonight last month that he recently finished a reboot script alongside co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan.
He teased that he’d been in touch with “10 original cast members” to discuss the idea, but did not disclose who.

However, shortly after the revival was confirmed, Variety reported that Lea Michele would be returning as McKinley High’s resident diva, Rachel Berry.
“She’s in. It’s still early-ish days, but it feels good, and we’re happy to get the band back together,” one insider revealed.
Also seemingly confirmed is Heather Morris, who starred as the delightfully ditzy cheerleader Brittany S. Pierce.
“Yes ladies and gentle men of women, rumors are true. Brittany S Pierce was in fact lost in the sewers for all these years,” Morris wrote on Instagram. “But I’m here to inform you that she is alive and well… And back for more.”
Chord Overstreet, who starred as glee club crooner and football star Sam Evans, teased his return on X by writing, “Reunited and it feels so good!”
Kevin McHale – AKA Artie Abrams – also chimed in with a cryptic post of his own. Replying to an X post about Drake surpassing the Glee cast’s Billboard Hot 100 record, he wrote on Wednesday, “Challenge accepted.”
Of course, there will be some heartbreaking absences from the cast. While Cory Monteith’s death was written into the show’s fifth season, his fellow original stars Naya Rivera and Mark Salling both passed away after Glee wrapped up its run.

Chris Colfer, who won a Golden Globe for his role as Kurt Hummel on the show, admitted recently that doing a revival without Rivera, who died in an accidental drowning in 2020, would be difficult.
“It was a really tough show to do, and it would be really hard to do it now that Naya is gone,” he said. “But I do know that Glee fans would probably come after me with pitchforks and jazz hands if I said no.”
Colfer insisted in the interview that he hadn’t heard anything about a revival, but given the news that broke just two weeks later, it’s safe to say he was probably playing coy!

Glee made its debut in May 2009 and aired for six seasons, with its original series finale premiering in 2015.
The show followed a high school glee club led by an optimistic Spanish teacher seeking to bring it back to its former glory.
Along the way, the students’ personal lives bring plenty of drama, while a conniving cheerleading coach, played by Jane Lynch, vows to destroy the club.
Glee sparked a pop culture phenomenon that expanded far beyond the small screen. The show’s weekly covers helped the cast land more than 200 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and spawned two world tours, where the stars performed in character.
