A 33-year-old Ohio man has been arrested and charged with the death of a 61-year-old woman who was found dead inside a vehicle at a used car lot in Middletown.
Police were alerted to the body around noon on Tuesday and found Constance Reddix dead inside the vehicle, according to WLWT. A coroner ruled her death a homicide but has not released the cause of death.
Middletown police said on Wednesday they had arrested Darnell Dollar, who is accused of beating Reddix and then dragging her several blocks and putting her in the SUV on the car lot where she was found dead.
A 911 call reported the beating, with the caller urging police to “get there fast,” but officers apparently did not arrive in time.
Reddix’s family said that she had befriended Dollar after meeting him at a local homeless shelter, but they felt he took advantage of her.
“Now I don’t have a mom the rest of my life because of him. You brutally murdered my mom, and I hope that justice is served,” said Tabetha Reddix, the woman’s daughter.
Dollar is due in court on Friday, WXIX reported.
