A Michigan woman who allegedly lit her husband on fire in 2021 was charged on Friday with setting a house fire in March that killed her employer.
Julie Boxley, 52, was reportedly living with Glenn Andrews, 72, to help care for his sick wife when she allegedly set their Ishpeming home on fire. The Mining Journal reported that Boxley and Andrews escaped, but Andrews died from his injuries about two weeks later.
Andrews’ daughter told WLUC that Boxley previously took care of Andrews’ wife, but she eventually moved only to come back.
“She appeared on his front porch one day and said, ‘I need a job do you still need help?’ And he said yes, and she said I also need a place to live, and we thought this is great,” she explained.
Boxley is charged with homicide and arson in Andrews’ death. She is due in court on November 27.
Boxley is also criminally charged in Alger County for reportedly lighting her then-husband on fire on Christmas Day 2021. According to the New York Post, Boxley’s husband testified that he was sleeping when she poured a liquid on him and threw a match. He also claimed that he threw a burning blanket out of the window, but Boxley kept approaching him while hurling matches.
At the time of the deadly arson, Boxley was awaiting trial for the 2021 incident involving her husband. In that case, she has pleaded not guilty to great bodily harm less than murder and assault with intent to murder for the attack on her then-husband. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for next month.
