A Texas doctor has been arrested for allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with patients, prompting efforts by police to find more potential victims, KPRC-TV reports.
On Friday, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announced that investigators executed an arrest warrant for Dr. Kozhaya Sokhon at the Adva Cardio Clinic in The Woodlands, Texas.
The Woodlands is a community just north of Houston.
“The investigation and subsequent arrest are the results of a lengthy investigation that revealed similar complaints about inappropriate sexual contact by Dr. Sokhon toward multiple patients,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release, according to KHOU-TV.
Following his arrest, Sokhon was booked into the Montgomery County Jail. He faces a charge of indecent assault by a healthcare provider, according to the sheriff’s office.
“The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has worked diligently in conjunction with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office to bring this investigation to a successful arrest conclusion,” the press release states.
Adva Cardio Clinic’s website says Sokohn is a cardiologist with 15 years of experience who is board-certified in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease. Sokohn completed his residency in internal medicine in New York at Staten Island University Hospital and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn.
“Dr. Sokhon specializes in minimally-invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures that include cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, and other nonsurgical techniques to care for patients with heart disease,” the website reads. “These advanced therapies offer his patients optimal results without the need for traditional open-heart surgery.”
Any patients of Sokhon who may have been subject to sexual contact while under his care are asked to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 936-760-5800. Callers should select option 3 and refer to case #23A298916.
