The search for missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue in Wisconsin has taken a significant turn with the discovery of a blanket that belongs to him. The Two Rivers Police Department confirmed that a red and white plaid blanket found on Goodwin Road, east of County Road B in Manitowoc County, is Elijah’s. This blanket was discovered 3.7 miles from where Elijah was reported missing on February 20, 2024.
Elijah was last seen at the apartment of Jesse Vang, where he was reportedly left alone by his mother, Katrina Baur, for “disciplinary reasons.” Baur sent Elijah to stay with Vang, intending for him to return to the Wisconsin Dells on February 23. However, Elijah’s disappearance has raised concerns, leading to charges of child neglect against both Baur and Vang.
The discovery of Elijah’s blanket comes amidst ongoing search efforts that have been focused on the urban and rural areas of Manitowoc County, including water bodies, to locate any evidence related to his disappearance.
A total reward of up to $40,000 is being offered for information leading to Elijah Vue, including $10,000 from Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers for the arrest and charging of those linked to his disappearance, $15,000 for details leading to Elijah’s recovery and the apprehension and conviction of the involved parties, plus an extra $15,000 from Two Rivers community donations.

The timeline of events leading to Elijah’s disappearance has been pieced together through interviews and cell phone records. On February 19, Jesse Vang placed Elijah in a “time out” before bed, around 8-9 p.m., and changed his diaper. Vang watched a movie while Elijah stood as punishment. Vang also consumed three beers and a cyclobenzaprine as a sleep aid.
In the morning, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Vang prepared his son for school, noticing Elijah asleep on the futon, and then took his son to the bus stop. At around 8:00 a.m., Vang returned and woke Elijah, and they had breakfast together without milk. Vang instructed Elijah to stand and pray near the foot of the bed and fell asleep, leaving Elijah unattended. Around 11 a.m., Vang woke up, discovered Elijah was missing, and called 911 to report the disappearance 1.
The search for Elijah Vue continues, with the Two Rivers Police Department asking the public to check surveillance cameras for video of a beige Nissan Altima that may be connected to the case. Elijah is described as having dark blond hair and brown eyes, standing about three feet tall, weighing about 45 pounds, and having a birthmark on his left knee.
