“Daddy’s gonna be back soon,” Courtney Clenney, her face covered in blood, says to her two dogs in a surreal moment captured by police body camera footage in the hours immediately after she fatally wounded her boyfriend. “Daddy will be back soon. I promise.”
In newly-released footage, the embattled OnlyFans model sits handcuffed on the front balcony of her posh Miami apartment, surrounded by police and her dogs — Jesse and Ranger. The latter she apparently aims to console or corral after the stabbing death of Christian Tobechukwu “Toby” Obumseli, 27, in April 2022.
“I’m covered in blood,” Clenney exclaims on the video at one point. “I’m covered in my boyfriend’s blood.”
An officer also assesses the situation: “We have a nonresponsive male and the apartment is full of blood.”
Eventually, Clenney and the two dogs are taken from inside to outside of the apartment as the scene unfolds.
“What is going on?” she asks. “I was — I was really scared. I just. I’m covered in blood from holding him.”
Throughout the footage, Clenney expresses concern for Obumseli as paramedics attempt to treat him and ascertain his condition.
“Guys, please tell me what’s going on,” she screams at one point. “Come on, like, there was — I was scared — please tell me if he’s OK.”
First responders note the victim has a lone stab wound to his shoulder that is “too small for QuikClot,” a name brand antihemorrhagic treatment, and that he is still alive. Obumseli would later succumb to his wound at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
“We have his birthday planned for Barcelona,” Clenney tells the responding officers in response to a question about the victim’s age early on in the chaotic footage while she is still inside the apartment.
But there was never a trip to Catalonia.
Clenney would be arrested in Hawaii and charged with murder in the second degree just over four months later in August 2023. The 26-year-old defendant is also known online as Courtney Tailor. She maintains she stabbed Obumseli in self-defense during an argument.
In the footage, after being handcuffed, Clenney repeatedly tries to get up and appraise Obumseli’s body, telling officers she needs to see him. Police repeatedly tell her that she cannot do so and to sit back down.
“Are you married?” Clenney implores one of the officers.
“You stay right there,” the officer replies.
“Are you married?” she asks again.
“I’m covered in his blood because I’m trying to save him,” she says.
“I understand that,” the officer says.
The footage goes on to show Clenney asking to be let back inside her apartment while on the balcony. An officer explains that she cannot go back inside because of the ongoing investigation.
The alleged circumstances of the stabbing are also touched upon in the footage — though details are difficult to make out due to multiple voices engaged in multiple discussions all at once.
“So he throws you against the wall?” one officer asks Clenney.
“I was scared and trying to get him off of me,” she recounts.
Clenney is also being charged with computer crimes related to a laptop that belonged to Obumseli, warrants allege. Clenney allegedly helped her parents access the computer, with the aid of her attorneys, in a group chat in which the elder Clenneys and attorneys participated.
The newly released footage is several hours long and shows numerous interactions between the defendant and law enforcement.
Often, during the hectic aftermath of the stabbing, Clenney appears distraught and concerned about her boyfriend’s safety.
“I am covered in his blood because I’m trying to save him,” she tells officers at one point, her voice and tears rising. “And if I don’t and y’all can’t, what will I do with my life? I need him. He’s like my other half.”
