Gunman Murders 2, Critically Wounds a Third When He’s Confronted About Possible Shoplifting – Crime Online

An Florida man arrested after he killed two convenience store workers and critically injured a customer early Saturday morning was sentenced to probation in 2022 after he put a nail between his knuckles and punched another man in the face.

Jason Dyer-Mitchell, 23, was identified by the black hoodie he was wearing with the word “POWER” in white, from Powerhouse Gym Miami, where he was a member, WPLG reported. He was arrested at an apartment across the street from the gas station where the shooting took place.

Shamun Shaukat and Shahbaz Hussein were killed in the shooting, and customer Elijah Shorter  was hospitalized in critical condition. Police said the station was about to close, and Shaukat confronted Dyer-Mitchell because he thought he was shoplifting. Dyer-Mitchell pulled out a gun and started shooting.

Police said they found a fanny pack with a 9mm magazine and an IWI Masada 9mm pistol in the apartment where they found the suspect, who refused to talk with detectives after his arrest.

According to court records, Dyer-Mitchell was arrested on January 3, 2022, and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and drug and alcohol charges. Prosecutors dropped the drug charges, and then the court “withheld adjudication” and sentenced him to 2 years probation, which ended last September.

Dyer-Mitchell was booked on two counts of second degree murder and another count of battery on a visitor or another detainee at the jail., according to jail records.
