Ava Dash is quite familiar with being in front of cameras and traipsing around the streets of NYC alongside her parents. This is because the Next Gen NYC cast member has a famous mom and dad in Damon Dash and Rachel Roy.
According to her Next Gen NYC bio: “Ava’s always had that it factor. The daughter of music mogul Damon Dash and fashion icon Rachel Roy, Ava was surrounded by legends from day one, but she’s never needed a famous name to turn heads.”
The full-time model recently spoke with The Daily Dish, where she admitted that her parents were nothing but supportive of her joining the cast of Next Gen NYC. “My family’s already kind of in the public eye, so they were just completely supportive and kind of saw it coming,” she said. “Like, they were not surprised.”

Rachel, a fashion designer and founder of the skincare company, Ancient India, is so proud of her daughter. The fashion mogul, who also shares a younger daughter, Tallulah Dash, with Damon, wrote the sweetest words about Ava’s newest venture. Rachel took to Instagram ahead of the Next Gen NYC premiere and posted two photos of Ava alongside her Rachel’s brother, Rajendra Roy.
“Congratulations beautiful & brilliant love of my life, [Ava Dash] on the launch of your [Bravo] television show tonight!” she wrote in the caption of the post. “Class, confidence, and grace, as my brother (pictured here with Ava in NYC last night) aptly suggests: ‘Enjoy the ride baby girl, we love you so very much!’

Ava told People in 2023 that she has learned so much from her mom. “She’s always told me, trust in yourself,” she said. “Be confident in yourself. If you’re not comfortable, walk away. You’re better than that, and you know your self-worth.”

Damon, a co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, also took to Instagram on June 3, where he posted a video of himself holding up a copy of The New York Post with the cast of Next Gen NYC on the cover. “Look at my baby!” he said in the video. “I’m in the supermarket, and look, I see my baby all in the middle of the newspaper, and she’s on the cover! Look at my baby!”
Ava Dash reveals what it’s like to grow up in the public eye
Viewers got a glimpse inside Ava’s relationship with Damon when he made an appearance during Next Gen NYC Season 1, Episode 1. The model spent some quality time with her younger brother, Dusko, and her dad, who hyped up Ava’s accomplishments to their family members. She also returned the favor, shedding light on her dad’s own entertainment industry career.
Damon Dash’s industry connections to Jay-ZÂ
In the premiere episode, Ava chatted a bit about her dad’s epic career in the music industry. In the 90’s, Damon co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records and the Rocawear fashion brand with Jay-Z. “My dad is Damon Dash, he co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records,” Ava explained during a confessional in the episode. “He is a music mogul. He was probably like 19 when he made his first million. I’ve always grown up in the public eye, so people are comparing you to your family.”
