Kristen Doute and her fiancé, Luke Broderick, welcomed their daughter, Kaia Lilly, into the world in June, and The Valley cast members are already thinking about their family plans for the future.
The new parents recently spoke with Us Weekly, where they opened up about the joys of parenting. Kristen also revealed that she would love to give Kaia a younger sibling in the future.
“We’d love to have a second baby, if that’s possible for us,” she said. “I’m sure we’ll need help again with our fertility doctor. I hope that we’re lucky, but I know what to expect a little bit more next time around.”
But as of right now, Luke and Kristen are so focused on Kaia. “Whatever is in the cards for us is going to happen,” she admitted. “One week in, I’m just thinking about Kaia. I can’t imagine not giving her all of my love, affection, and attention. But I also know if we want a second one, we shouldn’t wait a long time to try.”
“I’ve only had one pregnancy and I understand where you’re so grateful and humbled to be a vessel for this baby, but at the same time, you want to be a version of yourself again…I would like my body back and I [like not being] pregnant, but at the same time, I really want a second one,” she concluded.
Details on Kristen Doute’s fertility journey
Kristen had been very open about sharing her fertility journey and her struggles to get pregnant. In 2023, Kristen suffered a miscarriage after six weeks of pregnancy. Kristen continued to see their fertility doctor, and revealed on their podcast last September that she was going on medication to help improve her chances of conceiving.

She told the publication that viewers will continue to see her fertility journey on The Valley Season 2. “We got pregnant two weeks after we wrapped filming,” she admitted. “You’ll see us meet with our doctor, and me struggle with the word ‘infertile.’ It was really difficult to hear because, in my mind, it means we can’t have a baby, but it really just means [that it] takes you a year or more to get pregnant. It’s not as scary as it sounds.”

Both Kristen and Luke know that life with a newborn can be tough. Days after giving birth, Kristen took to her Instagram Story, where she posted several photos of her, showing the reality of postpartum life. In one photo, Kristen can be seen wearing a diaper underneath her sweatpants. In another, Luke can be seen napping behind Kristen on the couch.
“I’m only letting him get away with it so he now has to take the late shift,” she admitted. “I don’t know how we are still running on empty, but we are parenting so hard.”

Although Kristen is “good” but “exhausted” since giving birth, she told Us Weekly that Kaia has already taught her so much in her first few weeks of life. “I’m an extremely impatient person, but with her, it’s completely different,” she admitted. “Like, all I have is patience and grace for her. We’re all just learning together.”

“It’s crazy that we have an actual human,” she added. “She’s ours, she’s here, and I’m like, ‘We just take her home now?’ It’s wild.”

In May, Kristen shared an update on wedding planning with The Daily Dish. “We’ll probably start talking about that next year. It could happen next year,” she said. “I don’t know. I don’t want to wait too long, but I think we need to settle into being parents and this whole chapter of our lives and really know what we’re doing before we try to plan anything else.”
