Andy Cohen Reveals The City Where He Wouldn’t Do Real Housewives

Andy Cohen is opening up about the one city he wouldn’t want to bring The Real Housewives franchise to. The Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host is also an executive producer of The Real Housewives and a proud St. Louis, Missouri native. But he doesn’t actually see the franchise in his home city.

“I think it’s a hard no,” he told KMOV News 4 St. Louis in a clip posted to Instagram this week. “I can’t imagine how annoying it would be for my mom, dad, sister, everyone I know to be like, ‘Oh, so-and-so auditioned.’ Or, ‘So-and-so is on it and is mad at the edit.’ I don’t need this.”

“I have enough drama with The Real Housewives of Orange County, Rhode Island, New York, Atlanta, Potomac,” he joked. “You know, it would be multiplied if it was in my hometown because it would be multiplying with everyone I know having something to say to me. I have so much noise in my life. I have two little children, also, trust me. It’s good. We’re good.”

Andy had previously shut down the possibility of Real Housewives coming to St. Louis during an episode of the WWHL After Show in November 2024. “I don’t poop where I eat,” he simply stated. “You understand?”

Andy Cohen reflects on iconic Real Housewives casting tapes

Although Andy isn’t looking to cast Housewives in his hometown, he has come across some iconic casting tapes during the past twenty years of The Real Housewives franchise. Andy explained to Vulture earlier this month that he didn’t meet The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Nene Leakes until the RHOA Season 1 reunion but knew her from her tape. “I saw her on tape. Her tape was great,” he said. “She was funny. It’s online somewhere. She and Kim [Zolciak] were riffing. Nene wanted to open a boutique hotel. Kim looked like a country western star. She was wearing a cheap wig, smoking up a storm.”

He also recalled the casting tapes for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. “I remember looking at the casting for Beverly Hills, and I, idiot, thought, ‘We already have Orange County. Why would we do Beverly Hills?’ When I saw [Lisa] Vanderpump’s tape, I was like, ‘Oh my God, she’s Jackie Collins,'” he noted.

Andy Cohen reveals what makes The Real Housewives franchises so successful

Andy previously revealed that there are many elements that make a franchise of The Real Housewives successful. He appeared on Busy This Week in June 2024, where he noted that The Real Housewives keeps getting stronger.

“I’ve always been like, ‘Oh, what’s gonna be the thing to end the Housewives? When is this thing gonna end? And it just keeps getting stronger,” he admitted. “And the truth is, I do think it’s testament to A. the women that we cast and B. the care that we take to make sure that the casting is right and that we’re listening to the audience…I view it akin to keeping a plane in the sky; you want to do everything you can to keep it going and healthy and strong so that people wanna watch.”
