The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City‘s Angie Katsanevas is opening up about where she stands with her husband, Shawn Trujillo, months after they made headlines that they were splitting up in July. Angie revealed that she’s prioritizing her daughter, Elektra, as she navigates this new chapter in her life amid a separation.

Angie spoke on their split to Us Weekly in September, several months after the couple was first rumored to be separating. “I think for a long time I was quiet about things that I was going through, so I could show up for other people,” she told the publication. “And I’ve gotten to the point where I’m being more open about what’s going on, and sometimes that can make it — it can be harder because I’m trying to show up for my daughter right now.”
Her focus, she noted, is on her daughter: “I want to be a great friend to everyone. But my No. 1 priority is my daughter, making sure that she knows I’m there.”
In an interview with Page Six‘s Virtual Reali-Tea also in September, Angie noted Season 7 of RHOSLC will give more insight into her life. “I’ve been amazed at how many people are curious as to what’s going on in my personal life,” she said. “The viewers fall in love with you, and your family, and your story.”
When speaking to the publication, she further noted that “nothing has changed” for their daughter. “We’re very present, loving parents,” she said, “I think she just feels loved and supported and very strong and confident in who she is and who her parents are, and that she is surrounded by love.”

Angie and Shawn married in 1999 after meeting at a hair salon where they were both working. “I see this hot guy with huge muscles blow-drying hair, and I thought, ‘I’ve got to get to know this guy.’ Good-looking, muscles, and he could do my hair? It was love at first sight,” explained Angie in RHOSLC Season 4, Episode 2. “30 years later, here we are.”
They took their love for hairstyling to the next level. In the years since, they have not only been life partners but also business partners as the owners of a hair salon franchise, Lunatic Fringe Salon.

They became parents to their daughter, Elektra, in May 2011. In May 2026, to celebrate Elektra’s 15th birthday, Angie posted an emotional tribute to her and Shawn’s daughter. “You made your grand entrance into this world 15 years ago. So quiet and sweet with your beautiful blue eyes staring into mine. I had no idea what an amazing adventure being your Mom would be,” she wrote. “We gave you love and you flourished and grew. We gave you a horse and you showed commitment strength and resilience. We gave you kittens and you showed endless love care and tenderness. I gave you my heart and you cracked it wide open and showed me a love I never knew I could feel. You leave everything more beautiful than you found it. So proud of the beautiful strong feisty funny young woman you are becoming. Keep shining.”

Angie Katsanevas addresses marriage rumors in January 2026
While in more recent times, the pair have been open about experiencing ups and downs in their marriage, back in January 2026, Angie appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, and she addressed rumors about her marriage to Shawn. “I’m still married,” she told WWHL host Andy Cohen at the time. “I’m into franchise when it comes to business, but I’m into one fry when it comes to marriage.”
By September 2026, Angie and Shawn were in a different place in their marriage. In her interview with Us Weekly, she said of how she is currently feeling amid the split, “I’m kind of really just, like, in self-preservation mode right now.”
What’s next for Angie Katsanevas and Shawn Trujillo amid their split?
Angie remains busy as a mom (and recent cat foster mom) and businesswoman as she grows her empire. She now hosts a podcast, GoDaddy School of Hustle, which highlights “candid conversations with founders, newsmakers and entrepreneurs navigating the highs, lows and plot twists of building a business.” Following the launch, Angie shared her excitement for the new career move, “So excited to get down to business with some of the most inspiring hustlers in the game!”
When chatting with Page Six in September, she also shared what’s next for her and Shawn. “Shawn and I are business partners, we’re family, we’re husband and wife of 30 years, we’re best friends,” she said. “Obviously, we are loving parents, and everything we’ve done, we have done together, and we will continue to do everything together moving forward…We talk a lot about the process this season on the show, and what the future looks like for us.”
