TUCSON, Ariz. (TCN) — A 49-year-old man has been arrested and booked into jail on two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the death of his pregnant wife.
KAIT reports that on Oct. 9, deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a home after Joseph Clark allegedly called and said he had killed his wife. When they arrived, they found the victim in the garage covered with a blanket; she appeared to be in her second or third trimester of pregnancy.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the victim was identified as 39-year-old Noelle Clark.
Investigators learned Joseph Clark allegedly beat Noelle Clark, hit her with a belt, and stabbed her in the chest in a child’s bedroom, according to KAIT. He allegedly dragged her through the home to the garage, where he allegedly ran over her body with the car. She allegedly had tire marks on her arms.
A knife, belt, and a pool of blood were allegedly found in the child’s bedroom by investigators. Evidence found at the home also led investigators to believe Clark was allegedly planning to dispose of his wife’s remains.
Clark was arrested and booked into jail on Oct. 10 on two counts of second-degree murder, according to the sheriff’s office. The couple’s children, ages 2 and 5, were taken into the custody of the Arizona Department of Child Safety.
KAIT reports that during his interview with authorities, Clark allegedly said his wife had been torturing him and shocking him with electricity for years and that that is why he killed her. He alleged that all of his teeth had “popped out from being zapped,” but no injuries were found on his body.
A neighbor said Clark was strange, but they did not believe he was violent, KVOA reports.
KAIT reports Clark’s bond was set at $1 million; he is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 20.
The investigation is active.
