Body of newborn found in porta potty at Electric Forest music festival

ROTHBURY, Mich. (TCN) — The body of a newborn baby was found inside a porta potty at the camping area of the Electric Forest music festival. 

The Michigan State Police announced that an employee servicing the porta potties at the campground discovered the body on June 28. While the exact age of the infant is unclear, the announcement describes the baby as a neonate, which Variety reports means they were 4 weeks old or younger.

According to AEG, Electric Forest is a multiday music festival specializing in electronic and jam band genres. Attendees camp on-site while viewing live sets across seven stages. Variety reports that approximately 50,000 people attend the festival annually.

The investigation is ongoing.
