Exploring the ‘Chelsea News: Chelsea Owner Todd Boehly ‘Working On’ Cut-Price January Transfer With Two Others On Radar’ Chelsea supremo Todd Boehly is working hard behind the scenes to push through a move for Dynamo Moscow starlet Arsen Zakharyan in the January transfer window, according to reports. The Blues were the Premier League’s biggest spenders over the summer and are widely expected to splash the cash once again in the mid-season market as Graham Potter looks to prepare his squad for the business end of the campaign.

Chelsea is believed to be looking to rebuild their side over the next few transfer windows after an underwhelming season to date, with the west Londoners currently eighth in the Premier League table after three successive defeats. They have taken a liking to Zakharyan and could be well-placed to snap him up in January, according to Fabrizio Romano, who told Caught Offside that Boehly is already pulling the strings to bring the 19-year-old playmaker to Stamford Bridge.

“Arsen Zakharyan wants the move to Chelsea and they’re working to sign him,” he said when quizzed on the Russian midfielder, who is said to have a cut-price release clause of just £12.5million written into his contract. “They have many, really many talents on the radar but now with new directors the decision will be re-discussed again.”

Romano went on to reveal that Chelsea has also been exploring the possibility of signing Palmeiras teenager Endrick, who has been making plenty of waves in South America in recent months and is said to be admired by the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia is thought to be another name on Chelsea’s mid-season shortlist after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s standout youngsters since joining the Saints from Manchester City over the summer.

“Part of Chelsea’s rebuilding job means they are tracking some of the best young talents in world football [but] still, it could be a long process,” added Romano.

“On Endrick, Chelsea is in the race along with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, but it’s still too early as nothing is decided yet. The Palmeiras wonderkid has also confirmed he’s now studying English: ‘But I’m not gonna answer about my future club. Of course, I’d like to play Champions League in two, three or four years. I’m open to all the clubs, waiting for the best proposal for me and my family.’

“Romeo Lavia was a target in the summer, but there are no fresh contacts yet after their August approach.”

It remains to be seen how Chelsea will approach the January transfer window when the market reopens as they look to strengthen their ranks in advance of the all-important Premier League run-in. It will be hugely important for Boehly to make the right decisions for his club, though, if they are to stand any chance of beating the likes of Newcastle and Liverpool to a top-four finish at the end of the campaign.
