Cop Saves Choking Baby 10 Minutes After Completing CPR Training – Crime Online

A Massachusetts police officer is credited as a hero after he saved a choking baby about 10 minutes after completing a CPR refresher course.

Winthrop Police Officer Robert Jaworski, a 30-year veteran of the department, was first on the scene when 1-month-old Savannah’s grandparents called to say the little girl was choking on her formula.

“My wife was trying to pat her on the back to clear the airway, and thank God the ambulance and the cops showed up,” grandpa Robert Barnes told WCVB.

Jaworski immediately got to work, Winthrop Police Chief Terence Delehanty said.

“He turned the child over, faced the child down toward the floor, tilting; gave the child three back blows,” said Winthrop Police Chief Terence Delehanty. “The third back blow, the child started crying, which is always a wonderful thing.”

The baby was taken to the hospital to be checked out and is now with her mother, who just started a new job on Tuesday. Barnes said she is doing well.

Delehanty said everyone should have CPR training.

“You don’t know where you’re going to be and how you can help somebody,” he said.
