Authorities are stacking new charges against a Pennsylvania man who allegedly fatally shot and ran over his pregnant girlfriend, adding new allegations that he ranted about the unborn child.
Dakota Greeley, 20, insisted that Trisha Renee Cole’s pregnancy “ruined his life,” according to police documents obtained by Johnstown NBC affiliate WJAC.
Authorities first charged Greeley with criminal homicide, murder, and two counts of terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, according to online records. They withdrew then refiled those charges on Monday, adding criminal homicide of an unborn child, first-degree murder of an unborn child, third-degree murder of an unborn child, and abuse of a corpse
The victim had visited a hospital in October to verify that she was expecting. After the visit, Greeley asked if they could “kill it now,” documents reportedly said.
A witness told investigators that Greeley described wanting to “kick and beat the child out of the victim.”
That alleged hostility tragically culminated the morning of Nov. 9. Greeley allegedly shot Cole in the head with a .30-30 long rifle and ran her over with a vehicle.
A relative of the defendant told authorities about the shooting and warned them that Greeley planned on instigating cops to kill him, as previously reportedly by local outlet exploreJefferson.
Cops said that when they did arrive, they ordered Greeley to freeze, but he instead fired his rifle twice. Police said they fired back. Greeley allegedly fled in his truck but crashed into a nearby wooded area and ran on foot.
Law enforcement eventually took him into custody and then to a hospital. He allegedly threatened to kill the paramedics trying to take care of him.
“I f—ing shot her,” he allegedly told police.
Asked about his rifle’s whereabouts, he allegedly laughed and answered, “It was in my hand.”
Investigators said they found the rifle in his crashed truck. They found Cole’s body at the scene — shot in the head and run over by a vehicle.
Greeley is held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail. The public defender’s office representing Greeley did not immediately return Law&Crime’s request for comment.
