According to CNN, a number of voters in Colorado recently received text messages stating, “Your ballot request is in. Confirm now where and when to return it.”

The messages quickly caused confusion, as every active registered voter in the state automatically receives a mail ballot.

Josh Zygielbaum, the Democratic election chief in Adams County, claimed he received a dozen calls from voters about the message, while Carly Koppes, Republican election chief of Weld County also said she had to have “some clarifying conversations.”

The PAC’s website has also faced criticism for its “Vote Safe” registry, which offers assistance with voter registration and election reminders. The registry has raised eyebrows as the site explicitly states the information is “sourced from third parties and may not necessarily be accurate.”

Secretary of State Jena Griswold of Colorado has urged voters to refer to her office and county clerks for “accurate” election information, as she described Musk’s PAC as “misleading.”

Secretary of State Steve Hobbs of Washington, which also received the messages, issued similar advice to midterm voters and has accused Musk’s Grok AI of being used to push election “misinformation.”

Musk formed the PAC in 2024 with the intention of helping Donald Trump win a second presidential term. The tech mogul donated nearly $300 million of his own money to the effort.

His funding clearly paid off, as Trump has tapped Musk for roles in his administration, and most recently awarded the tech mogul the National Medal of Science.

This year, Musk has returned to sway the midterms. So far, he has donated $50 million to the PAC, which has spent nearly $40 million to support Republican House and Senate candidates.
