Florida man allegedly broke into ex’s home, stabbed her with screwdriver when he found her with another man

SARASOTA, Fla. (TCN) — A 32-year-old man is behind bars without bond after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and fatally stabbing her in the neck with a screwdriver.

The Sarasota Police Department said officers responded to a call on Nov. 1 regarding an unresponsive woman at an apartment complex. According to a witness, a man allegedly forced his way into the home and fatally stabbed the victim in the neck with a screwdriver, WWSB reports.

The witness helped authorities identify Josue Zepeda-Urbina as the suspect, according to police. Law & Crime named the victim as Cheyna Kimberlin Moreno-Martinez. According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the outlet, she and Zepeda-Urbina had dated in the past and were on cordial terms; she had reportedly brought him dinner the night he allegedly killed her, and told him to come over later.

Law & Crime reports police said Zepeda-Urbina allegedly retrieved two screwdrivers from his car and used one to get into the apartment and the other to stab Moreno-Martinez after he saw her in bed with another man.

Zepeda-Urbina was arrested without incident about a half an hour later when Flock cameras alerted police of his vehicle, according to police. He is behind bars without bond and is facing burglary and murder charges.
