ESTERO, Fla. (TCN) — A 57-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a road-rage incident after allegedly throwing a glass bottle of vegan mayonnaise at another driver’s head.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred in August when Christine Sweet was a passenger in a vehicle that allegedly cut another car off. Sweet allegedly yelled profanities at the other driver and when the car she was riding in became parallel with the victim’s car, she allegedly threw a glass bottle containing vegan mayonnaise straight at the victim’s head. Sweet then allegedly told the driver of the car she was in, “I hit her in the face, go, go, go.”
The victim suffered a laceration under her eye, according to the sheriff’s office. Gulf Coast News Now reports the victim spoke with deputies and said she wanted to prosecute. On Sept. 17, the victim called the sheriff’s department and tipped them off about where Sweet’s van was parked.
Deputies made contact with Sweet and arrested her for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. “A sweet screwball landed this road rager in jail,” the sheriff’s office said in their social media announcement of the arrest.
