A Georgia man shot and killed one man and wounded two other after following his ex-girlfriend into a tax preparation office in Forest Park and opening fire.
The former girlfriend was not hit in the gunfire, but her tax preparer — 43-year-old Brandon Harris, a father of four who also owned a fleet of ice cream trucks — was killed, WSB reported.
The suspect Victor Demetrious Baymon was taken into custody later on Friday after he crashed a stolen vehicle into a tree in Powder Springs. Powder Springs police said the vehicle was caught on Flock cameras, and officers gave chase.
“We believed this carjacked motor vehicle was potentially associated with the Forest Park shooting that happened earlier,” said Captain Anthony Stallings.
Baymon was hospitalized in critical but stable condition after the crash.
Forest Park police said Baymon entered the tax filing business at about 10 a.m. Friday and shot Harris and another person who was not identified. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene.
Baymon carjacked two people in the hours that followed, ending up on Old Jonesboro Road, where he randomly shot a man who was outside working on his property. Hours later, he was in Powder Springs.
When he’s released from the hospital, Baymon will be booked into the Clayton County Jail on charges of malice murder, armed robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Other charges are possible, police said.
