DES PLAINES, Ill. (TCD) — A woman was sent to the hospital after a man she met on a dating app allegedly ran her over with his car because they got into an argument.
According to a crime report by the Des Plaines Police Department, on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 4:28 a.m., a patrolling officer heard a scream from a woman who was found knocking on a store’s front door. The officer made contact with the woman, who said she had been struck by a car. The police report noted the woman’s “clothes were wet and disheveled, showing signs of an incident occurring.”
Des Plaines Fire Department officials arrived at the scene and took the woman to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, police learned the victim and Jose Roldan Vazquez matched on a dating app and the two met in a parking lot across the street from where she was found. The victim got into Vazquez’s SUV and they left the lot. They reportedly returned to the parking lot, where they got into a verbal argument. The woman got out of the car during the dispute “to get away from Roldan Vazquez.”
After she exited the vehicle, he allegedly drove into her and she fell. Surveillance video from nearby businesses reportedly showed Vazquez’s SUV hitting the victim and knocking her down.
Des Plaines Police officers went to Vazquez’s home in Mount Prospect and arrested him on charges of aggravated battery and failure to report a personal injury motor vehicle accident. Police also ticketed him for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.
