Illinois Woman Jamie Hannion Arrested’ A 22-year-old mother was arrested nearly five months after her 19-month-old son was found dead in his crib with rigour mortis already setting in.
On Oct. 17, Cook County deputies went to a residence on the 800 block of Victory Lane in Lyons Township after receiving a call about the deceased child. WGN-TV reports Jamie Hannion, the mother, had a relative watch her son, and that relative found him dead.
Hannion reportedly travelled to Tennessee, where she was arrested by federal agents on March 7 for first-degree murder and endangering the life and health of a child resulting in death.
According to WFLD-TV, Cook County deputies discovered the boy in his crib “cold to the touch with blue lips.”
Court documents cited by WFLD say the boy, Nathan, had vomit and faeces on his body and wasn’t wearing any clothing. Hannion allegedly rarely let her son out of his crib, which meant he could not walk or crawl.
The Cook County medical examiner determined Nathan died from homicide by nutritional neglect. He reportedly weighed 9 1/2 pounds at the time of his death, which is only 3 pounds heavier than when he was born. Nathan had spent time in the hospital on two occasions because doctors were so worried about the boy’s weight.
According to WFLD, Hannion reportedly told detectives she heard her son screaming around the time he died, but she did not get up and check on him, even after the screaming stopped.
