Brooklyn White, the girlfriend of Buster Murdaugh, has contacted law enforcement multiple times in recent days about journalists gathering information on the couple, WTOC-TV reports.
On March 7, White, an attorney, sought to file a report with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office about what she called an “ongoing intrusion into her life by reporters,” according to the television station.
One day earlier, White and Murdaugh contacted police after the New York Post published a photograph showing Murdaugh inside the residence he shares with White on Hilton Head Island, WYFF-TV reports. The photo appeared to be taken from the outside through window blinds.
Police told the couple they would increase patrols around the home, according to The Island Packet, but since making that initial report, White has complained to the sheriff’s office that the conduct of some journalists is “increasingly unsettling and frightening to her,” according to WTOC-TV.
White relayed that on the evening of March 6, she found someone peering into the windows of her vehicle. She is said to have been familiar with the individual and that this person allegedly followed her and Murdaugh for weeks during the double-murder trial of his father, Alex Murdaugh, who was convicted earlier this month of fatally shooting Buster’s mother and brother.
The individual who was allegedly looking into the vehicle operates a YouTube account that contains videos of him heckling Buster Murdaugh, according to WTOC-TV.
Over the last few days, White has noticed other people around her home, including apparent journalists taking photographs of her walking her dog. White also told police that reporters have been contacting neighbors asking questions about the couple.
Deputies responded by explaining the process for seeking a restraining order and advised the pair to document privacy intrusions, according to WYFF-TV.
Murdaugh has asked to not be listed in any reports because of privacy concerns, the television station said.
