Karen Huger Shares Why She and Ray Sleep in Different Rooms

“I decided that once I got sober, that I would love on Karen. And so that required I spend time with myself — not away from our marital home, but within the home,” she said in a confessional interview on RHOP’s Nov. 1 episode, which comes after the RHOP Season 11 trailer hinted that Karen and Ray are living “separately.”

Elsewhere during the Nov. 1 episode, Karen and Ray had an important sit-down to hash out the problems in their marriage. After hinting that Ray was working too much, Karen asked him, “Are you avoiding me?”

After shrugging off her question, Ray said that Karen needed time to figure things out after serving time in prison: “You have to spend time to try to, you know, become whoever you’re going to be, after going through that process.”

When Karen clarified she was going to “just be me,” Ray admitted one of their biggest issues was he might not really know Karen. “Well, but who are you?” he asked her. “A different Karen than say, who you were a year and a half ago.”

Karen Huger and Ray discuss intimacy struggles in their marriage

Months after Karen shared that she dated Ray “through a glass window” while in prison, she began to question during the Nov. 1 episode if Ray actually liked “sober Karen.”

Ray added to her fears when he told her, “You have to admit that non-sober Karen might have been more fun.” He also hinted that Karen’s sobriety was affecting their intimate life together.

“You don’t see you being more fun? Maybe more sexy, if you will?” he asked her, and added, “More aggressive in things?”

But Karen pointed out those issues predated her time away. As she put it, “Ray, me going to jail didn’t stop our intimacy.”

Ray then said that Karen’s prison sentence “certainly hasn’t helped” their sex life, and confessed that he thought things would be different when she returned home. “I thought after being there, you’d come back and tear me up,” he said.

Ray then voiced his fears that Karen wasn’t as attracted to him while sober. “What I want for you is sober. But I recognize that a sober Karen is a different Karen, and, maybe she liked how I looked better when she was drinking,” he shared.

“It’s an immature statement,” Karen said in a confessional interview. “There’s so much more to deal with than ‘tearing him up.'”

That said, she admitted she understood his point of view: “He’s also very hurt. And I know that.”

She concluded, “Clearly, you know, Ray has some adjusting to do. Because I like sober Karen.”

Are Karen Huger and Ray still together?

Asked where she stands with Ray in an October interview with Bravo Insider, Karen said, “I don’t want to get ahead of the story, so let’s do this — let’s have it play in real time. I say stay tuned, watch the show on Sunday nights. Ray and I will be progressing in real time.”
