Case in point: Kristi had no problem accepting Kacie Adkison’s request to drop off some steaks at Steve’s home in Season 3, Episode 2 (available to stream on Peacock beginning June 23), as her recently sentenced ex enjoyed his final days of freedom before reporting to prison after pleading guilty to federal crop insurance fraud.
“My relationship with Steve, you know, I’m the mother of his kids, I’m the grandma to his grandkids,” Kristi explained in a confessional. “I did a lot of reflecting on our lives and, you know, tried to get past the turmoil, the bad times, and remember who he is… We’re friends.”

Given their more cordial dynamic nowadays, Kristi noted that she would have no problem going to Steve Sr. directly with any issues, including when his new girlfriend, Masha Petrova, texted her to request a one-on-one sit-down.
“I want to call him and be like, ‘What does she want? Like, why is she contacting me? What is she wanting me to do?’ Kristi shared with Kacie and daughter-in-law Alli McBee in a scene from the same episode.

What was perhaps even more unexpected is the fact that Kristi found herself siding with Galyna Saltkovska, i.e. the McBee Farm & Cattle Co. CFO whom her son Steven McBee Jr. previously referred to as “the mistress that effectively ended her marriage” to Steve Sr., amid her conflict with Masha. As Kristi reminded viewers in a confessional, “Steve and Galyna were together. Then, Galyna was helping Masha out. They were friends, very good friends. And then [Masha] and Steve got together.”
Later, she added, “One thing Galyna does, she shows up. But Masha, she doesn’t care about my family. She cares about one thing, and that’s getting Steve.” After echoing that sentiment to Kacie and Alli, Kristi further commented, “The only thing she cared about was making Galyna mad and showing Galyna that she’s with Steve. … Why do I have to get involved in this stuff with these women?”

Much to Kristi’s surprise, Masha was at Steve Sr.’s lodge when she arrived to drop off his steaks for Kacie. That’s when her ex’s new girlfriend took the opportunity to ask Kristi to discuss the issues they’d been having over the past year.
After Masha denied that she was “worried” about Kristi’s friendship with Steve, Sr., the two also unpacked the drama she’d caused by showing up uninvited to an important family car wash opening amid intense drama with Galyna. The crux of the issue for Kristi was how Masha’s behavior surrounding that event, as well as when she crashed a family dinner, only illustrated that she didn’t “care about [her] boys at all.”
By Masha’s account, the conflict between her and Kristi had simply been a result of an “extreme amount of miscommunication,” however. She even remarked that she was “hoping for a better relationship with the family” in the future.
Kristi, for her part, concluded to a producer, “I don’t need to have all [Steve Sr.’s] girlfriends brought into my life. Just because he brought her into his life … they don’t have to come into my life.”

Much like her dynamic with Steve Sr., Kristi also made great strides with Galyna since their frank conversation during Season 2. “As weird as it sounds, I don’t like what [Masha] did to Galyna,” Kristi also shared with Kacie and Alli. “Galyna cares about you guys. I know she does.”
She elaborated to a producer, “Galyna and I have, you know… we’ve come a very long way. Our relationship has grown to where I can talk to her about finances, about the business.”
When Kristi brought up the car wash opening, Masha claimed that she “had no idea” that Galyna was even going to be there. What’s more, Masha insisted that Steve Sr. had invited her to the event. Unconvinced, Kristi shot back that Steve had given a different version of events, before going on to underscore the fact that Masha’s feud with Galyna could have jeopardized the family business and her sons’ livelihoods in the process.
