Amid deepening fractures in his marriage, Kyle Cooke’s series of damning statements about Amanda Batula to their In The City castmates made the writing on the wall appear more clearly than ever.
While celebrating Yvonne Najor and Nick Barber’s wedding in Episode 7 (streaming on Peacock beginning July 1), Gavin Moseley started a conversation about Kyle and Amanda’s new living arrangement. Chaos first erupted around the dinner table when several members of the friend group began debating how Kyle’s drinking compared to Amanda “smoking weed” on a nightly basis.
Amanda defended herself by saying that her pre-bedtime ritual was “not detrimental” to their marriage because she’d never cheated, betrayed Kyle’s trust, or “been embarrassing out in public” after smoking. What’s more, she said that there had “never been an article written” about her after she’d “smoked weed,” either.

From Kyle’s perspective, on the other hand, Amanda’s smoking habit, which he previously claimed had been going on daily for the past two years, negatively impacted both their sex life and his “ability to have a conversation” with her.Â
“How good of the quality of the conversation in a relationship is it if my wife is always high?” Kyle asked the group.

From there, Gavin asked both Kyle and Amanda if they were still “in love” with each other. Having already had a similar conversation with Kyle in Episode 4, Amanda answered, “I have an incredible amount of love for him, but based off the way our relationship has gone, it would be silly to say that we’re in love.”
When it was Kyle’s turn to speak, he stated, “I love this woman. Have we been through some ups and downs? Absolutely yes. Have I bottomed out and spiraled? Absolutely. Am I embarrassed by it? Absolutely.”Â
Unsatisfied with his response, Lindsay Hubbard repeated the question, to which Kyle more bluntly responded, “Am I in love right now? Like, no. … How can we be in love right now?”

As far as Kyle was concerned, Amanda had shown “no evidence of [making] an effort” in repairing their marriage, declaring that he was on a “one-way street” in that department. As more of their castmates chimed in, with Kenny Martin specifically mentioning the “blame game” that seemed to be going on, Amanda fired back, “I love you guys dearly, but with all due respect, you need to stay the f–k out of this because you literally have no idea.”
Standing up from his seat at the table, Kyle further remarked to his wife, “I will take any accountability or responsibility you want. I haven’t heard you take accountability of a single thing in four years.” Amid Lindsay’s attempts to mediate, Amanda announced that Kyle only “wants a party girl.” He clapped back, “A party girl? That’s your takeaway? … You don’t know me. Ten years, you don’t know me.”
An activated Lindsay then demanded that Kyle “stop f–king talking” and tearfully proclaimed that he and Amanda were going to “demolish their relationship.” That prompted Kyle to exit the dinner, saying only, “Further questions, you can email me.”
What happened after Kyle Cooke left the wedding celebration
Kyle did not go too far, however. At the restaurant’s bar downstairs, he ordered a water and vented about the “double standard” in his and Amanda’s marriage to the bartender.
Amanda, meanwhile, remained upstairs and claimed that Kyle was actually “the one that’s f–king up constantly.” She also consoled Lindsay, who had fully broken down into tears amid the dustup.
Eventually, Kyle returned to the dinner and addressed the group, explaining, “I had to excuse myself. … I appreciate everyone’s concern and support. I’m sorry for not being able to hold it together.”
