Over two years into Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky’s separation, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member took a moment to reflect on what went wrong in their marriage during Part 2 of the Season 15 Reunion.
“We’re asked all the time how this happened, and I really do believe that, you know, money and fame and traveling—“ Kyle began, before trailing off. “I used to say, ‘Listen, if you don’t make money, it’s totally fine. I don’t need you to have money. But I don’t want to live in L.A. and not have any money, because that’s not fun.’”
Kyle also offered a theory as to what could have saved the marriage, which involved leaving Los Angeles. “We would move to Vail, and [Mauricio] could be a ski instructor, and I could be home with the kids,” she hypothesized. “I do believe that if that had happened, we’d still be together.”
When Rachel Zoe asked whether “life got in the way,” Kyle agreed.
“I do think that social media is the worst thing for a relationship and people in the public eye,” Kyle added. “Everyone has access to you. It’s like giving people your number all the time. Anyone can find you. Reach you.”
What is Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky’s marriage status?
Neither Kyle nor Mauricio has filed for divorce yet. Kyle revealed during her March 30 appearance on The Bossticks podcast that she and Mauricio are still “not legally separated… We haven’t done any paperwork.”
During Part 2 of the reunion, Kyle addressed a question from Dorit Kemsley on whether she’s “waiting for [Mauricio] to come back.”
“No,” she answered. “I think it’s just not knowing what you want.”

She admitted part of her hesitation was worry over their family dynamic with their daughters if they filed for divorce. “It would change. And it would be scary if it changed for me,” she shared.
Kyle Richards reveals her thoughts on Mauricio Umansky’s appearance on The Real Housewives of Potomac
Mauricio recently caught attention from some of The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 10 ladies, after he met up with the cast at Aspen hotspot Kemo Sabe during Episode 15. At the time, Ashley Darby pointed out, “He’s a single man now,” to Stacey Rusch, prompting Gizelle Bryant to insist, “No, Mauricio is off limits to all of us.”
Kyle shared her thoughts on the matter during Part 2 of the RHOBH reunion.
“Basically, I was like, ‘You know, guys, I shouldn’t be saying this—I shouldn’t be letting Mau hear this, but—do you have to boost his ego? Can you just stop? It’s annoying,’” she told Andy Cohen. “Forgetting that [housewives are] a sisterhood of sorts, that’s annoying. Quit building him up.”

Kyle revealed that some of the ‘Wives did reach out to her after the encounter to issue “some apologies.”
“I got DMs, and then I got a text message, and then Ashley said something to me in person when [we were] shooting [The Real Housewives] Ultimate Girls Trip [Roaring 20th],” Kyle explained. “They basically were saying, ‘Just so you know, I would never want to do that.’ ‘This one said this, and this one said that.’”
Ashley also spoke about the situation on the Feb. 1 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. “Let us clarify, number one, Kyle and I did talk about this the other day, but I did not flirt with Mauricio—let the record reflect,” she said.
According to Andy, more of Kyle and Ashley’s convo about Mauricio is to come on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th. Read more about when the special celebration will premiere.
