Lala Kent is sharing new details about her friendship breakup with Katie Maloney. The Valley Season 3 cast member had been very close to the Vanderpump Rules alum before their fallout in 2024. And now, Lala is opening up about what happened between them.

The mom of two took to her podcast, An Unlikely Affair, on May 1, where she revealed that her friendship breakup with Katie was the “hardest” on her, resulting in her working with her sponsor to get through it. “I went through a lot of anger, a lot of resentment, a lot of sadness,” Lala said during the episode.Â
She continued, noting that she had “betrayed” Katie during the VPR Season 11 reunion by bringing up something that “Katie believed” was between the two of them. “Katie was my best friend,” she noted. “So we were just doing what we’ve always done, but now on camera. And that friendship revived me. I felt safe. I felt seen. And it breaks my heart to know that in a matter of moments, I didn’t make her feel the same.”

After their falling out, Lala admitted to sending Katie a text message apologizing for “the way things went down,” but she never heard back from her. “I am totally content with that,” Lala said. However, she tearfully admitted to knowing that she might never be friends with Katie again.
“I don’t think it’s ever gonna come back, and that’s fine. I’m content with that,” she continued. “There are times where we’re just surviving. And you may act in a way that’s out of character, but it can shift things… So although I miss that friendship deeply, and I know there’s no repairing it, we’ve both moved on. When I look back on it, that whole situation, I could have moved a lot differently. But I didn’t. And I have to be OK with that.”

Katie Maloney opens up about if she could repair her friendship with Lala Kent
Katie had previously spoken about her friendship breakup with Lala during a July 2024 appearance on the podcast, Not Skinny but Not Fat. During the episode, Katie admitted that their friendship fallout began during the VPR Season 11 cast trip to San Francisco, and it was made worse during the VPR Season 11 reunion. She also admitted that she doesn’t know if she could ever return to a place where she’s cordial with Lala.
“I think her and I, our lives are in slightly different places, and sometimes it just means you’re not meeting on the same page,” she explained during the episode. “Obviously, she had been harboring certain feelings, and thinking certain things that I didn’t know that she had felt, and so she was saving them for the reunion, which I didn’t feel was super authentic.”
“Once you violate my trust like that, it’s very hard to come back from [it]. Trust is the most important thing to me,” Katie added.
