A Florida man repeatedly stabbed his mother at their home just hours after the self-described life coach and “intuitive healer” posted a video about forgiveness, cops say.

Alexander Harrington, 50, is accused of stabbing his 77-year-old mother to death at their home in Delray Beach. He’s charged with first-degree murder. Local CBS affiliate WPEC identified the victim as Susan Baratto.

Harrington called police around 2 p.m. Friday to report that he had killed his mother, a probable cause arrest affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime said. The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office responded to the home and saw Harrington standing outside.

Deputies went into the home and found Baratto in the living room covered in blood and suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead. A knife lay on the ground next to her.

Harrington had a laceration on his left arm. As paramedics treated him, they asked what happened.

“I killed my mom,” he allegedly said.

Detectives took Harrington in for an interview. After receiving his Miranda rights, he apparently admitted to stabbing his mother and calling cops to report it.

The affidavit does not say why he allegedly killed his mom or provide details about the events that led to the deadly encounter. He allegedly said he has been sober since 2007, was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, and is bipolar.

According to his Facebook page, Harrington describes himself as a life coach and “intuitive healer.” He posted a video just a day before the slaying in which he called himself “one of Christ’s white knights” and spoke about the importance of forgiveness.

“We have to forgive people from our past,” he said. “[I]f you don’t open up your heart to heal, you’re going to make the same mistakes over and over again. And you’re not going to be a happy camper… I wrote down the name of everyone who ever hurt me and forgave them all.”

Harrington remains in the Palm Beach County Jail without bond. His next court date is set for Nov. 5.
