Man Found Shot Dead in Houston High-Rise Elevator – Crime Online

The body of a man in his 20s was found with dead with multiple gunshot wounds in an alevator in a Houston high-rise apartment buidling late Monday.

Houston police said the elevator opened for a resident on the 17th floor of the Haven at Elgin apartments, revealing the body, according to KTRK. The victim, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The building is across the street from the University of Houston campus and houses a number of students from that school and nearby Texas Southern University but is not affiliated with either school.

Investigators believe the shooting happened when the elevator was at the first floor and say security guards heard multiple shots and saw two men, possibly armed, running away.

“We don’t know if it was a robbery, we don’t know if it was gang-related, not real sure what exactly occurred,” Houston Police Lt. R. Willkens said.

It’s not clear if the victim was a student at one of the universities or a resident in the building.

Willikens said the two men seen running from the building may also have been shot. Investigators are checking hospitals for gunshot victims.

Police said two people were shot later at a nearby gas station, and investigators are working to determine if the two shootings were related. The two men who were shot were taken to a hospital, KHOU reported.
