Cops arrested a 23-year-old man on a slew of charges after he allegedly raped his girlfriend and dismembered his dog as a “sacrifice” to a “Biblical God” named Malek.
Elijah Juarez, who is from California and going to college in Missouri, is facing charges of rape, sodomy, animal abuse and kidnapping, among others.
Police in Holts Summit, Missouri, responded to a home on Feb. 5 after a property manager checked on Juarez’s home after learning he trashed the place. The property manager went through the home and saw a bloody hatchet, dismembered parts of a dog and a large amount of blood inside a garage, according to a probable cause affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime.
Officers obtained a search warrant for the home and found the bloody hatchet along with bloody scissors, dog testicles and a black trash can that carried the dog’s carcass. They also found the dog’s head, paws and internal organs in a freezer, the affidavit said. There was also a white board that appeared to contain plans on how to sell drugs, a digital scale and baggies commonly used to distribute narcotics. A veterinarian responded to the scene and determined the dog had been shot, dismembered and gutted, the affidavit said.
Detectives interviewed Juarez’s girlfriend who said on Feb. 1 he allegedly slapped her, pulled her hair and yanked off her fake eyelashes. She also accused him of holding her down on a bed and blocking the door so she couldn’t leave. The victim returned to the home three days later and saw Juarez wearing a red and black mask similar to those worn in the ‘Purge’ movies. She felt unsafe so she left, but when she came back later to collect her belongings, Juarez allegedly threw a bowling ball through the back window of her car as well as the front window if his car, she told detectives.
Juarez then allegedly began sending her messages saying “she failed the test” and “she would have been the sacrifice, but I had to sacrifice something else.” He then sent her pictures of the dismembered dog that cops later found in the home and said he sacrificed the dog to an entity named Malek, known as the “God of death.” He also sent messages saying she would be “dying before her birthday,” the affidavit said.
The victim also accused Juarez of raping her twice. Once, he tied her down to a metal rack and made a video recording himself sexually assaulting her, according to the affidavit. She tried to escape, but Juarez allegedly put a lighter to her hands so she couldn’t move. On another occasion, she accused him of holding her down and raping her despite her asking him to get off of her. He then dumped water on her face and slapped her, the affidavit said.
Officers arrested Juarez on Monday and took him to the Callaway County Jail where he’s being held on without bond. While in jail, he allegedly called the victim and asked her to not cooperate with law enforcement which netted him an additional charge of tampering with a victim in a felony prosecution.
Juarez was previously charged earlier this month with indecent exposure and has four failure to appear warrants. His family members flew in from California and cleared out his home while he was being held at the Missouri Psychiatric Center, the affidavit said.
