Mary returned to film RHOSLC three weeks after Robert Jr. passed away on February 23, 2026, at age 23. Having previously opening up about how she was feeling during the Season 7 premiere, Mary offered an update on how she was navigating the heartbreaking loss in an Episode 3 confessional.

“It’s been two weeks since Robert Jr.’s homegoing, and my mind just kind of snapped into survival mode,” Mary said. “I compartmentalize it and I kind of take doses at a time to deal with it. But you just keep going, you know? Always look at the light. Don’t ever let darkness creep in.”

How Angie Katsanevas helped Mary Cosby after Robert Cosby Jr.’s passing

At the time, Mary still couldn’t handle seeing photos of her and husband Robert Cosby Sr.’s only son. That point became apparent when RHOSLC castmate Angie Katsanevas arrived at her home with an orchid that was adorned with an image of Mary and Robert Jr. together.

“I can’t do pictures,” Mary immediately explained to Angie. “I am not there. I can’t take that right now.” Still, Mary said that she was grateful for the floral gift, as well as for Angie and the rest of the RHOSLC ladies’ support through her initial grieving process.

“I’ve been blessed with these women at a time I needed them the most,” Mary added in a producer interview. “And I am very thankful that Angie is here to see me today, because I can get caught up on what the girls are doing, get my brain on a different path, and getting it thinking on other things than what it’s been currently thinking about.”

As much as Mary appreciated the distraction of her catch-up session with Angie, she ultimately decided to forego Bronwyn Newport’s St. Patrick’s Day cast trip to San Francisco, which kicked off later in the Sept. 30 episode. “I have no desire within me to go to San Francisco,” Mary told Angie. “I’m gonna sit back and just sit in my peace.”

During their sit-down, Angie commented on how much she loves Robert Sr., aka “Bishop,” prompting Mary to reply, “Yeah, he’s lovable. And I’m happy that he showed people that side of him that I know. But that was new.” A bit later, Mary added of her husband of 28 years, “And were in this together, you know?”

In a confessional, Angie said, “They’re weathering a really difficult storm, and Robert is there to carry her through this time.”

Viewers can also expect to learn more about how Robert Sr. and Mary navigated their grief together, as the RHOSLC Season 7 trailer previewed a heart-to-heart between the couple in their Faith Temple Pentecostal Church. “You’ve been my strength,” Mary told him, before adding in a producer interview, “I’m so blessed and thankful that I can go through this with Robert Sr.”
