Family members confirmed the bodies were 14-year-old Lyric Woods and 18-year-old Devin Clark, WTVD reported, although the medical examiner has not made an official confirmation.

“Through our ongoing investigation, we have information that suggests the two individuals located off Buckhorn Road yesterday are Lyric Woods, 14, and Devin Clark, 18,” said Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood. “Lyric’s disappearance was reported by family members to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday afternoon. At 3:44 pm, the deputy reported Lyric missing to the NCIC. Concerned about Devin Clark’s location, his family phoned the Mebane Police Department on Sunday. He was registered into NCIC by a police officer at around 1:42.

Woods, a 9th grader at Cedar Ridge High School, left home Friday night and her parents had not been able to contact her Saturday, deputies said. Loved ones in mourning and Woods’ grandfather are offering a $10,000 reward for information on her death, according to The News & Observer.

Clark was a student at East Alamance High School, where he played football.

Deputies say two men on four-wheelers were out Sunday checking trail cameras in western Orange County and discovered the teens shot to death just off the power-line easement.

“Men riding four-wheelers discovered the bodies, a white female and a black male, just before 3 pm yesterday,” deputies wrote Monday before Woods and Clark were tentatively identified. “Both appear to be less than 20 years old.”

Woods’ stepfather last saw her Friday at around 11 p.m. Friday, according to a missing person report obtained by The News & Observer. He discovered she was missing Saturday at around 10 a.m. when he went to wake her up. A missing person report was filed at around noon that day. Deputies determined Woods may have left through the back door. It was found unlocked Saturday morning. Clark was reportedly last seen at around 11 p.m. on Friday. His missing person report was filed Sunday at around 11:25 a.m.

More than a hundred people — family, students, teammates, and faculty — showed up on the football field at East Alamance High School for a vigil to honor Clark, according to WJZY.

“Today was a true testament to who he was and how he lived his life,” coach and mentor L.J. Flintall told the outlet. “Just loving everyone. Not having a harmful bone in his body.”

“He was an athletic person, he was a good person, he was a good friend, and he had a good heart. He wouldn’t hurt a fly,” Clark’s mother Tiffany Concepcion told WFMY. “I’m reaching out because his father can’t handle it right now and I can’t handle it, but I’m a mother and I’m going to do what I can.”

According to Blackwood on Monday, “investigators are still awaiting a report from the medical examiner to confirm the victims’ names.” “Although we do not yet have that confirmation, the terrible but reasonable conclusion is becoming more and more obvious given the lack of any other missing people who match the characteristics of the people found. The victim’s family, friends, and entire community are devastated by this tragedy.
