Missing NC Transgender KC Johnson’ Human remains recovered in late January were recently identified as those of a missing woman who was allegedly killed by a man she met online.

KC Johnson, a transgender woman, was last seen on Friday, Jan. 13, on the 1300 block of Tradd Court in Wilmington, and was reported missing the next day. The victim’s partner, Bulla Brodzinski, was allegedly the last person who saw her alive.

Several days later, officials with the Wilmington Police Department concluded that Johnson was slain on the 1300 block of King Street the day she went missing.
Police in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, arrested William Haven Hicks on Jan. 18 on charges of first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and kidnapping. Johnson reportedly met Hicks on social media before her death.
According to a recent news release from the Wilmington Police Department, officials discovered human remains on Jan. 18, and on April 3, they were positively identified as Johnson’s.
In a statement, police said, “Our condolences go out to Johnson’s family during this difficult time.”
Wilmington Police said the investigation into her death remains ongoing.
