A Florida mother is accused of burning her 10-year-old daughter while she was tied to a chair for misbehaving, and tried to blame the injuries on a cooking accident.
Gineth Ramirez, 35, is charged with aggravated child abuse with torture.
Investigators responded Sept. 9 to a Hialeah school after the girl made allegations against her mother. The girl said her mother burned her on her arms and legs because she “misbehaves.” She had burn marks on her forearm, shin and the inside of her upper thigh, a probable cause arrest affidavit said.

The girl said her mother forces her to sit in a chair and ties her hands behind her back with a rope or handcuffs and burns her, cops wrote.
After receiving her Miranda rights, Ramirez allegedly blamed the girl’s injuries on a cooking mishap about two weeks earlier. Ramirez said they were in the kitchen making flan and the victim wanted a taste, according to the affidavit. Ramirez handed the girl the spoon with flan and told her to blow on it because it was hot, the affidavit stated.
But the girl reportedly dropped the spoon and it fell on her leg, burning her. Ramirez had no explanation about the other burns and claimed she “never even knew about them,” cops wrote.
Ramirez allegedly denied burning the girl on purpose. She said if her daughter misbehaves she makes her sit in a chair and face a wall but does not tie her down, according to the affidavit.
“The defendant said she never disciplines the victim by hitting her,” cops wrote.
Police arrested Ramirez and took her to the Miami-Dade County Jail, where she is being held without bond. She has a bond hearing set for Tuesday morning and an arraignment hearing on Oct. 13.
