Nathan Gallagher is reflecting on his life today and sharing new details like never before. The Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11 bosun has come a long way since he joined the crew of Below Deck Med Season 9 as a deckhand from Ireland and admitted that he owes so much to his home country as he continues to grow his career.
Nathan took to his Instagram account on June 13, where he posted a video of himself docking a yacht. He then took to the caption of the post, where he reflected on his time as a deckhand and bosun. “Since I was 18, I’ve spent my life chasing horizons. The ocean became my home, and every port was another stop along the way,” he wrote. “I thought freedom was never staying in one place for too long.”
But since welcoming his son, Kayden Cameron Gallagher, with Below Deck Med alum Gael Cameron last year, Nathan has discovered the perks of being stationary. “Now, a decade later, thousands of miles from Ireland, friends and family, I’m learning to build a life that’s primarily based on coming back to land, I realize something I never understood when I was younger. You can sail every ocean in the world, but you’ll never outrun the place that lives in your heart,” he noted.
“The sea gave me a life of adventure, but Ireland gave me my roots,” he concluded. “And no matter how far I travel, part of me will always be standing on that little island on the edge of the world.”
Nathan Gallagher opens up about the personal and professional pressures in his life
While Nathan has found his peace at sea, he admitted during the Below Deck Med Season 11 premiere episode that he was feeling the pressure in both his personal and professional life, juggling his career with being a new father. “I do know it’s going to be difficult,” he said in a confessional.
“Listen, I’m still trying to find my feet in the bosun role,” he continued. “And I’m also just trying to find my feet in this new dad role. I want to be a good partner. I mean, moral of the story is, ‘I feel f—ing pressure.’ They say pressure makes diamonds. I mean, I am hoping.”

What to expect from Nathan Gallagher on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11
Pressure will continue to be on Nathan throughout Below Deck Med Season 11. According to an announcement for the new season, Nathan “must strike a balance between work and home life as his partner, Gael Cameron, and baby Kayden live nearby so he can be with them on nights off after long charters while training new deckhands.”
But things aren’t going great with Nathan’s longstanding friendship with deckhand Joe Bradley. According to the announcement, a “growing rift with Joe comes to a shocking conclusion as Nathan struggles to maintain his composure under pressure, and the two deckies’ competition threatens to tear apart the entire Med team.”
