Netizens wonder why cameras haven’t been installed at Lady Bird Lake even after 4 deaths this year

Netizens wonder why cameras haven’t been installed at Lady Bird Lake even after 4 deaths this year’ Austin’s chief of police insists that the men discovered dead in the same body of water and about the same age are not necessarily the victims of a serial killer. John Christopher Hays-Clark, 30, was the most recent victim to be discovered dead in the Lady Bird Lake in Austin. So far, four bodies have been found in the lake this year. The trail has left netizens wondering why the government agencies haven’t installed security cameras near the lake.

The question was asked on Reddit, where a user briefly explained the timeline of the bodies recovered. In the comment section of that Reddit post, a user named Good-Boot-5105 asked, “I’m wondering why all these dead bodies and still no government agency has put up game cameras. I feel like this serial killer could have been stopped a while ago if they would just start looking.”

In reply, another user pushed an interesting theory and said, “You’d think with all the security cameras around these days someone would have caught something. Especially if it’s a busy area with bars and restaurants.”

‘Horrible shortage of police officers’

After seeing the response from another user, the original poster explained Austin PD’s working capacity and wrote, “That particular piece of “lake” is downtown. There is nothing but a hiking trail around it and the only businesses on the actual shore of the lake are places that rent kayaks and canoes. So there are no businesses with cameras that would have any shots of the lake (with the exception of one hotel) because they would be way too far away. That’s why I’m confused that the city, county, or state have not put up cameras along the trees and pathways. Austin has a horrible shortage of police officers right now and have involved the state police to try to help. You would think this many dead bodies would get some attention other than just on Reddit!”
