Nashville, Tennessee – Country ballad Choosin’ Texas from singer Ella Langley on Tuesday broke the record for most weeks topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US, unseating a famed Christmas song by Mariah Carey.
The track was released in October and has been number one for 23 weeks in a ranking that includes streaming, radio play, sales, and data, the magazine said, adding that its figures are tabulated by the company Luminate.
27-year-old Langley has even managed to surpass American legend Carey’s inescapably catchy Christmas anthem All I Want for Christmas Is You.

Choosin’ Texas has also surpassed other records set by Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road, Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You, and more.
In a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday, the Alabama native said she planned to celebrate the win.
“It’s changing my life. It’s changing lives of the writers of this song. It’s changing lives of my family,” Langley said.
“We love you soooo much, Ella!!! we’re choosin’ Ella forever!!!” gushed one fan in the comments section of her Insta video.
“No literally it’s one I never stop playing – you’re the queeen,” wrote another.
